Are you interested in learning more about research in the mathematical sciences? Do you have a research project you would like to present via a poster or talk? Want to meet other like-minded students from universities and colleges in the Southwest? Then complete the student interest form for this year’s SUnMaRC event in April!
Southwest Undergraduate Research Conference
Hosted at Northern Arizona University
April 17-19
Student interest form (Due March 15)
Southwest Undergraduate Research Conference (SUnMaRC) is designed to welcome undergraduates to the interesting and diverse world of mathematics research, to develop and foster a rich social network between the mathematics students and faculty throughout the greater Southwest, and to celebrate the accomplishments of our undergraduate students. We encourage undergraduate students from al years of study to participate and give presentations on research topics from applied mathematics, pure mathematics or mathematics education. In past years ASU students gave interesting talks on topics that ranged from sea ice imagery and coral food web to population dynamics, graph theory and abstract algebrs, cold sensory neurons, and fostering belonging in math classrooms.
The conference also provides students the opportunity to attend professional talks given by top mathematics experts from leading universities, national labs and industry.
SUnMaRC has had a profound effect on students, as they gained understanding of the wide array of problems to which mathematics can be applied, the diversity of careers in which one can use mathematics, and the abundance of summer programs available to undergraduates for getting involved in research.
After you complete the Student Interest Form, the organizers will contact you to let you know if there is funding available for you to attend.
