The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences has an international reputation as an outstanding center for mathematical education, scholarship and research. Its nearly 60 professors are at the forefront of current developments in the four core groups of Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics. Faculty are leading game-changing research projects, and graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to be a part of this exciting work.
The School is dedicated to providing quality instruction and research in the mathematical and statistical sciences. We embrace the challenge of teaching mathematics to students with a wide variety of backgrounds, abilities and needs.
We strive to maintain a positive, collaborative, and interdisciplinary culture. We are deeply committed to action that will increase diversity, advance equity, and foster greater inclusivity in our own School, and more broadly in STEM.
A major or minor in the mathematical sciences provides excellent training for careers in business, finance, insurance, medicine, and many other professions. We are pleased to make our expertise available to serve the mathematical needs of the ASU community and beyond.
If you are a prospective graduate student, be sure to check out our Masters and Ph.D. programs in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, mathematics education and actuarial science.
