Degree qualifications

An applicant must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or a closely related area from a regionally accredited institution.

Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA (scale is 4.00 = "A") in their bachelor's degree program, as well as a 3.00 GPA on all mathematics and statistics courses.

Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution as well as coursework in linear algebra (equivalent to ASU course MAT 342 or MAT 343) and advanced calculus (equivalent to ASU course MAT 371).

Degree qualifications

Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics or closely related area from a regionally accredited or reputable international institution.

Students applying directly from an undergraduate program must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) overall and in Mathematics courses. Students who are applying following a Master’s degree must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last degree awarded.

Tuition

The school typically pays ASU tuition for full-time doctoral students with 20 hour-per-week graduate teaching or research assistantships. In 2019-20, this is a direct benefit of between $12,608 (for Arizona residents) and $29,149(for international students) per academic year.
