Ricci Flow Singularities Modeled on Asymptotically Conical Shrinkers

Abstract

The Ricci flow often encounters singularities in finite time. For topological applications, it is then necessary to understand what the evolving Riemannian manifold looks like near a singularity. We’ll discuss which spaces model Ricci flow singularities. Given an asymptotically conical, gradient, shrinking Ricci soliton, we’ll show that there exists a Ricci flow solution on a closed manifold that forms a finite-time singularity modeled on the given soliton.
