Journeys of Black Mathematicians: Forging Resilience is the first film in the series by filmmaker George Csicsery, and was released approximately one year ago. We are hosting this group pre-screening ahead of the main event on February 7, at which time we will screen the second film in the series.

If you prefer, a link to view the first film, Journeys of Black Mathematicians: Forging Resilience, will be made available to those who wish to screen the film virtually on their own personal device before viewing the second film in person on February 7.

Journeys of Black Mathematicians: Creating Pathways, the second film in the series, had its world premiere at the Joint Math Meetings in Seattle on January 11, 2025. The documentary series features interviews with contemporary Black American researchers and educators and surveys innovative educational programs in math at every level from grade school through undergraduate and postdocs. Following the February 7 in-person film screening, there will be a panel discussion featuring mathematicians featured in the film, moderated by Donatella Danielli.
