Women on Mathematical Paths: Actuarial Science

-
Abstract

This seminar series intended to connect AWM Student Chapter Members with working mathematicians. The series will answer questions about the day-to-day lives of mathematicians working in various sectors. The first seminar will address what it means to be an actuary, and is co-sponsored by the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Network of Actuarial Women and Allies (NAWA). Future seminar topics will include: What does a mathematician at a National Lab do? What is it like to be at a professor in a research-focused environment? What is it like to be a professor at a teaching-focused university? What skills are useful for mathematicians who work in the financial sector? If you have an idea for a different topic, let us know.
