Jon Young earned his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from ASU in 2007. After spending some time teaching English in Japan, he came back to ASU for graduate school and received a PhD in Applied Mathematics in December of 2013. After teaching as an adjunct, he was nominated by the NIH for a post-doctoral research fellowship funded by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science to work at a Nonlinear Science and Complex Systems lab at the University of Tokyo for two years.
After completing his post-doc, Jon pursued a career in the private sector. He worked five years at a financial market timing research firm in Scottsdale before transitioning to a job at a non-profit brain science research institute in Seattle, where he currently works as a Senior Software Engineer in the Scientific Computing Department at the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics.
