Modeling a New Disease: COVID-19 Transmission Dynamics

Abstract

In this talk, we present some ideas of mathematical models to understand the transmission dynamics of a new disease. We consider COVID-19 as our study disease and Mexico City to exemplify some results. We start our presentation by describing a mathematical model which considers the implementation of mitigation measures. Then, we illustrate the role of atypical events on the shape of the epidemic curve. Finally, we conclude by highlighting the importance of key dates to understand the transmission dynamics of COVID-19 disease.
