STP 526
Theory of Linear Statistical Models

Instructor:  Dr. Sharon Lohr, 965-4440, sharon.lohr@asu.edu

Time:  3:30-4:45,  Monday and Wednesday

Location:  Discovery 123

Line #:  76591

Credits:  3

Topics:  Statistical software packages correctly perform calculations for standard regression and ANOVA-type models. But the packages often give incorrect answers for complicated models when used naively. In this course, you will learn the theory underlying regression and ANOVA-type models. A projective approach to linear models will be emphasized. Topics include estimation using ordinary and weighted least squares, the multivariate normal distribution, hypothesis testing in linear models, estimation of variance components, and mixed effects models.

Prerequisites:  STP 427 and MAT 342.

Text:  Ravishanker and Dey (2001)  A First Course in Linear Model Theory.  Chapman & Hall.
