Title:Spatial and non spatial stochastic models for immune response

Abstract:We introduce spatial and non-spatial models for pathogen dynamics in the presence of an immune response. All the models assume that the immune system is able to get rid of all pathogens of a given type at once but that it recognizes only one type at a time. We use our models to test the following hypothesis: can the immune system be overwhelmed by a particular virus only because of its high mutation rate?
