Doctoral Program in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a Concentration in Computational Biosciences

This program is coordinated through the School of Life Sciences. Please check sols.asu.edu for admission procedures and program requirements. The intent of the Computational Biosciences concentration is to provide students not only with strong training in Molecular and Cellular Biology, but also in bioinformatics and related areas.

Students qualify for the Computational Biosciences concentration if their Program of Study includes at least 12 credit hours of courses that emphasize bioinformatics and computational biosciences. Examples of these courses are:

  • BIO 545 Populations: Evolutionary Genetics
  • CBS 520 Modeling and Computational Biology
  • CBS 521 Applications and Complex Problem Solving in Computational Biology
  • CBS 572 Data Mining
  • MAT 504 Mathematical Aspects of Biotechnology
  • MCB 540 Functional Genomics
  • STP 530 Applied Regression Analysis
  • STP 531 Applied Analysis of Variance
  • CBS598 Special Topics Course as approved by the student?s committee
