Charles Wexler Awards

Background

Professor Charles Wexler founded the ASU math department in 1930 and served until 1977. Memorial gifts from his family and others have provided funds for two annual awards which are presented at an awards ceremony each April.
  • The Charles Wexler Mathematics Prize is presented to outstanding undergraduate mathematics students. Each year, the student is selected by an awards committee based on nominations made by faculty.
  • The Charles Wexler Teaching Award is presented to outstanding teachers of undergraduate mathematics in the department. The winner is selected from nominations made by students enrolled in undergraduate mathematics classes.
The recipients of the Wexler Awards receive a plaque and a monetary stipend. Their names are placed on plaques that remain on display in the Mathematics Department office.
