Dr. Welfert's research focuses on the development and analysis of numerical methods for solving applied problems. He is in particular interested in stability issues in these methods. Dr Welfert has worked on a wide range of techniques (finite element and spectral, iterative solution of linear and nonlinear systems), problems (ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical integration and differentiation) and applications (computational electromagnetics and fluid dynamics). He is currently investigating the effect of noise on the stability of physical systems in Biology and Fluid flows.
