| NOTICE Current Students
As of January 25th, the Unified Placement Test (UPT) is no longer be provided for math course placement. Beginning on that date all students need to take the Math Placement Test to enroll into any First-Year Math class. The Math Placement Test can be taken a total of two times. Existing Unified Placement Test scores that have not expired can still be used for course placement. |
First Year Mathematics (FYM) encompasses mathematics classes up to calculus and introductory statistics courses. These are the classes that satisfy university, college, and major requirements in mathematics and are the first courses for students wishing to major or minor in math.
The FYM faculty is devoted to the practice of teaching of mathematics and statistics and is one of the largest such faculties at a university.
ASU requires all incoming freshmen to complete the Math Placement Test for mathematics prior to orientation in order to determine the appropriate math course for enrollment.
