Graphing Anything on the TI-82 and 83:

1. Enter the equation:

First, solve the equation for y = (If not done already), then press

Y =
Enter equation with correct use of parentheses

You may choose to enter several equations at once. If you want to see them all at the same time: Press GRAPH

If you want to see one at a time you must "unselect" those you don't want to see:

Highlight the equal sign of the graph you DO NOT want, then press
ENTER
Notice the equal sign is not highlighted. This means this equation will not be graphed

2. Adjust your Window: Press WINDOW

At this screen you can enter any domain (x values) or range (y values) you want

If you want a square window or a standard window: ZOOM

For square - 5

For standard - 6

3. Press GRAPH (If step 2 was not taken)

Data and Plots

1. Turn on a Stat Plot: 2nd STAT PLOT (Y =)

ENTER
ON
Choose type of plot : 1. Scatter plot

3. Histogram (These are the two most popular)

Xlist: L1
Ylist: L2
Mark: Choose any one you feel like

2. Clear L1 (list 1) and L2 (list 2):

CLEAR
STAT
4 (ClrList)
L1 (2nd 1) and ENTER
Repeat but with L2 (2nd 2)

3. Enter data needed to be plotted:

STAT
1 (Edit)
Enter data into L1 and L2 using arrow keys
Exit from screen by pressing 2nd QUIT (MODE)

4. Plot data:

Make sure all plots in Y = are cleared
Adjust WINDOW to fit your data
Press GRAPH
Note: Before attempting to graph an equation you MUST turn off your STAT PLOT:
2nd STAT PLOT
1
Highlight OFF then press ENTER
QUIT
