Recording your ID info into the graphing calculator

We recommend that you not only write your name and phone number on the back of your calculator, but program your name and phone number into your calculator as well. This is an additional safeguard you can employ to ensure that you will be able to identify a lost calculator as your own. The smart thing to do is to program your name in two different places: one that is easily identified by an honest person so that the calculator can be returned to you, and in another place that is not so obvious so that the calculator could still be identified by you in the event that the first info was deleted.

TI - 81 Press PROGRAM and then press ENTER. Use the right arrow to EDIT and then use the down arrow to an empty row and press ENTER. After the a: type OWNER using the alpha keys. Use the down arrow to go to the next line and enter your name and phone number. Then press 2nd CLEAR. This quits the program. Use the same procedure to enter your name again in another program, but chose a name that sounds like a math program, like NUMBR or MATAB.

TI - 82 Press PROGRAM, then press the right arrow twice to get to NEW, and then press ENTER. Type OWNER using the alpha keys. Press ENTER. This will put you in the next line that begins with a: where you then enter your name and phone number. Then press 2nd MODE.. This quits the program. Use the same procedure to enter your name again in another program, but chose a name that sounds like a math program, like NUMBR or MATAB.

TI - 83 Same as TI-82.

Cassio fx - 7700 MODE 2 will permit you to write a program with your name in it. Move the cursor to an empty location and press EXE to start storing your entries. Enter “OWNER” using the quotes on the first line using the ALPHA key. The quotation sign is obtained by pressing SHIFT ALPHA and selecting F2. Enter your name and phone number in the next line, and press MODE 1 to save your program and quit. Use the same procedure to enter your name again in another program, but chose a name that sounds like a math program, like NUMBR or MATAB.

Casio 9800 Go to PROGRAM and choose F1 (PRG). Move the cursor to an empty location and press EXE to start storing your program. Enter “OWNER” using the ALPHA key on the first line. The quotation signs are entered with the word owner and the quote sign is obtained by pressing SHIFT ALPHA and selecting F2. Press SHIFT ALPHA to go to the next line, and enter your name and phone number. Press SHIFT EXIT to save your program and quit. Use the same procedure to enter your name again in another program, but chose a name that sounds like a math program, like NUMBR or MATAB.
