Solving Systems of Equations in Two Variable - Graphing

When you are done with this section, you will be able to do the following

For this lesson, we are focusing on the method of graphing.  The method of graphing is not an algebraic method.

The main steps of the graphing method are:
1.  solve both equation for one variable.
2.  graph both equations on the graphing calculator
3.  use the intersection function on your graphing calculator to find the solutions

The method of graphing can be used with both linear and non-linear equations.  One problem with using the method of graphing is that it is not always easy to solve the equations in terms of one of the variable.

A good place to find information about
solving systems of equations using the method of graphing is your text book (pages 451-453) in College Algebra 3rd edition by Stewart, Redlin, and Watson).
