The information for each of the general studies courses provided below will assist students in understanding the course components; these include course descriptions, example syllabi, exam review problems, and additional information that will assist students in preparing for the course.

Math Placement Exam

All incoming students must complete the ALEKS math placement test prior to orientation and enrollment into their first semester math course.  Students have two attempts to attain the score needed for enrollment in their major-required math course. Third attempts can be requirested by emailing your name and ID number to placement.math@asu.edu.  

EXAM SCORES ARE VALID FOR ONE CALENDAR YEAR ONLY.  If your score has expired you may receive a prerequistie error, requireing you to retake the placement exam or provide proof of passing (within one calendar year) the prerquisite course at another institution. 

If you are using a transfer course to meet the prerequisite it may need to be evaluated for equivalency. Transfer Coursework
