Employment Opportunity for Assistant or Associate ProfessorMathematics EducationThe Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning in the fall semester of 2008. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education or Mathematics with a strong background in both areas. Candidates must have a proven record of excellence in mathematics education research and teaching appropriate to rank. Candidates for an Associate level appointment must also have demonstrated potential for supervising and mentoring graduate student research in mathematics education. The successful candidate will conduct research and publish in the area of mathematics education, actively pursue external funding, and provide high-quality teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses. These courses will include graduate courses on research in mathematics education, undergraduate mathematics courses, and courses for preservice and inservice secondary mathematics teachers. The Tempe campus of Arizona State University has over 51,000 students and is located in the rapidly growing metropolitan Phoenix area, which provides a wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics currently has 51 full time faculty members and over 80 supported graduate students. The Department has high-quality and growing Ph.D., masters and undergraduate programs in mathematics education. ASU has a nationally regarded STEM education faculty with an outstanding record of securing major funding.
