About Us
The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences is dedicated to providing quality instruction and being a powerhouse of research in the mathematical and statistical sciences. We embrace the challenge of teaching mathematics to students with a wide variety of backgrounds, abilities and needs. We provide excellent training for careers in science, technology, medicine, law, business, and many other professions. We are pleased to make our expertise available to serve the mathematical needs of the ASU community and beyond.
The School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences is located in Wexler Hall, the A-Wing of the Physical Sciences Center. Dedicated in 1977, the building was named in honor of Dr. Charles Wexler, the founding chairman of the Department of Mathematics, in appreciation of his outstanding service to the university from 1930 until 1977. Dr. Wexler was also the recipient of ASU’s Distinguished Teacher Award in 1973. Memorial gifts from the Wexler family and friends have provided funds for two annual awards which are presented each year at an awards ceremony. For more information, visit the Charles Wexler Awards page.
The school is truly a vibrant community of scholars who are learning about and solving some of the most interesting theoretical and applied mathematical problems of our time. Please browse these pages to glean more information about what we do and feel free to contact us for more information. If you are on the ASU campus, come and see us in Wexler Hall, the A-Wing of the Physical Sciences Center. On these pages you will find more detailed information about the School.
